VP of Sales

As Vice President of Sales, you will be a consistent driving force to positively influence our company’s culture as well as defining our core values, your actions and work ethic should set an example.  As VP of Sales, you will be responsible for developing a sales process and ensuring that the process is being followed through the use of CRM and internal tools.  Additionally, you will be managing and growing the skills of your team through coaching, role-playing, and recommending educational materials.  


You will establish sales goals and revenue targets in collaboration with GovPilot Leadership.  You will also be responsible for monitoring the usage of our current customers and the health of our relationships with those customers.  GovPilot will be looking for you to investigate opportunities for growth, analyze competitor pricing and functionality, develop tactics, strategies, and programs to improve GovPilot’s market share.


As a Vice President, you need to be a resource for your team as the product expert and demonstrate knowledge of the local government industry.  You are expected to be proficient in all the tools the sales team utilizes. 


Responsibilities:


  • Develop strategies and techniques necessary for attaining revenue targets, building a strong sales pipeline, and forecasting

  • Develop and grow relationships with our current customer base

  • Map potential customers and generate leads as well as create new opportunities utilizing existing GovPilot sales tools and identifying others when warranted

  • Coach, mentor, and train the sales team on product, industry, and tools

  • Ensure adherence and commitment to a rigorous sales process

  • Develops documentation on the sales process for reps to access as a resource 

  • Maintain accountability to sales activities, results, and forecasts

  • Provide market feedback to leadership team influencing product strategy and positioning

  • Perform regular individual meetings with the sales team, as well as ride along with reps.

  • Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.

  • Achieve satisfactory profit/loss ratio based on team overhead and customer retention.

  • Monitor competitor products, shortcomings & advantages, sales and marketing activities.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.

  • Always represent GovPilot in a positive professional matter when interacting with our staff, current customers, potential customers, and strategic partners. 

  • Represents the company at trade association meetings to promote product

  • Meet regularly with strategic clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.

  • Acts as liaison between sales and other departments within GovPilot

  • Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotas and plans to determine effectiveness.


Requirements:


  • Must have at least 8+ years of experience in sales

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Sales Leadership role

  • Must have experience selling in a startup environment - track record of hitting high revenue targets.

  • Must have a strong track record in software sales with experience managing SDRs and AEs.

  • Extensive and proven track record in building and executing on a sales process.

  • Experience developing and executing a GTM Strategy

  • Great leadership skills - you are a great mentor and understand how to build leaders.


Desired Skills & Experience


  • Experience selling to government entities

  • Established network of “influencers” and senior-level decision-makers who consume or know of projects involving government IT and relevant software procurement

  • Background in SaaS Sales
